A special guest was in town and I wanted to treat her to a lovely dinner. After some last minute contemplation, we decided on Root 174. There were no tables available but lucky for us it just happened to be the last (self-declared) beautiful fall day in Pittsburgh so we sat outside. If you are looking for a neighborhood brunch spot with a vibrant vibe and friendly staff, Square Cafe in Regent Square is the place. The only downside is that the place is small and it can be beyond packed when you want to eat. So, just be patient. Now, the food. The food is a tad overpriced by a few dollars, but is good.
