Smallman Galley call for applicants
Have you ever wanted to start your own nacho-themed restaurant or pizza by the slice bistro? We’ll now’s your time to get it.
Smallman Galley, the country’s first restaurant incubator in the Strip District, will be accepting applications for its second class of four new chefs from October 1 – December 31, 2016. The new class of chefs will start their 18-month tenure on June 2017.
Chefs who are accepted into the program hone their culinary talent by running independent kitchens and testing their restaurant concepts six days a week. In addition, training in financial management and accounting, fundraising, staffing, branding, marketing, and leasing is also made available. And, assistance by CBRE, the world’s largest commercial real estate firm and exclusive partner with Smallman Galley, will help chefs find a stand-alone space once their time at Smallman Galley is up.

In addition to having four awesome restaurants, Smallman Galley is also home to Beyond the Menu, a series of talks, events, and gatherings that celebrate the Pittsburgh food and beverage culture. Upcoming talks include Brent Young of Whitfield, Brian Pekarcik of S+P Restaurant Group, and Rachel Tepper Paley, international food writer and former editor of Yahoo! Food, to name a few.
