Meat & Potatoes DJ Brunch
In a sea of updates featuring pregnancies and wedding announcements, one can sometimes find a gem of a post on the ol’ Facebook. Case in point: I happened upon an update proclaiming January Sundays as DJ brunches at Meat & Potatoes. Sweet jams and delicious eats? RESERVATIONS MADE.
I had heard good things about brunch at M&P — all of which were confirmed on Sunday. For your consideration:
The table ordered up the on-special monkey bread upon sitting down. The cinnamon-sugary sweetness did some serious mouth melting. For my main feature, I went with the french toast. It was a little too sweet to eat the whole offering. More bacon pieces crumbled on top would have been a welcome addition to break up the sugar. Lucky for me, my friends are really good at sharing, and we passed our meals around.
The best dish proved to be the chicken and jalapeno cheddar waffle. You receive what is essentially an entire chicken, fried to perfection, and a savory waffle. Bourbon bacon syrup is served on the side, but honestly, this number packs a lot of flavor on its own.
While we ate, we had a brunch soundtrack courtesy of DJ Thomas Cox — a mix of hip hop, soul, and disco. The sweet beats helped to keep the weekend party going. DJs are scheduled on Sunday through the end of January, so go get your brunch AND your groove on.
