OK Pittsburgh — add another dinner to your fabulous food schedule! Carnegie Museum of Art is hosting its first dinner in a series called FEAST on Friday, February 12th. The FEAST series celebrates art through culinary adventures. Mmm… art….
FEAST: The Propeller Group on February 12th highlights the exhibition The Propeller Group: The Living Need Light, The Dead Need Music, a visual journey through South Vietnamese funerary traditions which pull inspiration from New Orleans. All this to say: CMOA will be serving up a Vietnamese/Creole fusion meal with help from acclaimed chef Michael Gulotta of MoPHO in New Orleans!
Chef Michael will be coming to Pittsburgh to create a six-course meal including roasting a whole hog. Here is the menu run down:
Fried oysters with pickled blue cheese and nuoc cham mayo; boudin noir dumpling with spiced apple broth and shaved chilis; New Orleans hot sausage po-boy banh mi; charred coconut milk rice cakes wrapped in smoked pork jowl with spicy shellfish paste
Seasonal Som Tam salad (Goi Du Du Tom Thit) with kohlrabi, Thai chili, sweet cured sausage and spicy peanut; Roasted Cauliflower in Nuoc Mam Caramel with spicy shrimp crust and fermented bean curd; Fermented black bean gumbo with blue crab, jumbo shrimp, and roasted okra; Cane syrup lacquered duckling in red curry with cured citrus, roasted beet, and sticky rice balls; Coconut milk glazed whole roast hog with fresh herbs, Nuoc Cham, pickled fall vegetables, and roti bread; Roasted banana tart with cafe sua da gelato

Can’t fork out the $150 but still want some awesome food and good times? FEAST: After-Party starts at 9 PM on February 12th and includes music by Pandemic and Raya Brass Band and a lion dance performance.
