It’s here! It’s HERE!!!!!! Wine at the grocery store. Today, after standing in line at the Market District in Shadyside for about the same length of time as an elephant gestation, I saw it – the wine vending machine. It was of course closed, as it is Sunday, but still – hooray! Now when you need some wine for dinner, no need for a trip to the ol’ wine and spirits. Any other sightings?
Yesterday, we judged BACON at the Great Sugardale BAC-ON!!! And boy, was it hard work! Huge thanks to Sugardale for letting us be a part of this cool event at GoodTaste Pittsburgh! Hope to see yinz there next year!
Despite my food blogger status, I’d never heard of Cioppino before last week. Forgive me… I was planning on going to Osteria 2350 but when I drove past and saw Cioppino brimming with people and Osteria’s waiters twiddling their thumbs I made an executive decision to explore other options. When I picture a chophouse it’s dark and romantic in its decor and heavy scents fill the air. Pittsburgh Barbecue Company, otherwise known as “that place on Banksville…,” was just voted best Barbecue in Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh Magazine’s “Best of the Burgh” contest. I love BBQ so of course I had to see if Pittsburgh Magazine was lying to me. I think they might have been. I got a half a rack of ribs, baked beans and coleslaw. The baked beans were on target and full of great smokey flavor. They also used at least 3 different types of beans. The coleslaw also had a good combination of vinegar and sweetness.
