Apis Mead & Winery
Do you like wine? How about sweet, fruity wines? Then I have just the place for you to go visit immediately: Apis Mead & Winery in Carnegie.
Apis has been around for over a year and is house making fruity mead, wine made from honey. You can get their product at various spots around town including The Brew Gentlemen in Braddock and Piper’s Pub in South Side, but paying a visit to the meadery is worth going through tunnels and over bridges.
There are about 10 meads on tap and I recommend starting off with the sampling flight of 5 meads if it’s your first time. You can go with the classic sampler of 5 meads Apis recommends that you start off with or you can choose your own 5 based upon the day’s selections. Glasses and bottles can also be purchased.
Some of the current offerings include: blueberry chi, passionfruit, habanaro mango, pumpkin spice, and a tasty caramel apple sangria. Be sure to swing by Friday, December 12, for the release of their new mead: apple pie cyser.
There is no food offered in this joint, but you can bring in your own food or order from some of the tasty spots in Carnegie, like pasta from Papa J’s, pizza from Slice on Broadway, or a healthy salad and sandwich from the Carnegie Coffee Company. There’s also plenty of board games, so order some food, wine and have a fun evening with friends at Apis!
Apis is open: Wednesday & Thursday: 4-11; Friday & Saturday: 11-11; and Sundays 12-5.
