North Country Brewing

ROADTRIP! I l.o.v.e. to travel even if it is just a wee distance. North of Pittsburgh there lies a land of prime hiking spots with scenic overlooks, babbling brooks … ok ok… there lies a land of beer and BBQ. North Country Brewing in Slippery Rock brews their own beer! WIN! They offer a variety of beers so whether you’re into darker beers, like me… or you prefer something hoppy, they’ve got you covered. The place is like something directly out of the woods. No joke. It has some partial log cabin happening and I dig it. After a nice long hike in nature, I felt very comfy sitting back and swigging my stout with wood surrounding me. It was tough to choose something off their menu to eat because everything sounds good after hiking. I rarely ever say no to BBQ so I went for the Smoked Pork BBQ sandwich. They slow roast the pork in their fruit bowl and then drench it in a darkkkkk sauce that is a little bit sweet and a little bit tangy. They top the sandwich off with a cabbage slaw and it is served with a pickle and fries. (Note from the picture below that they toast the bun! Two thumbs up for going that extra mile as it makes a big difference!)
I left North Country Brewing with a full belly and I’ve been talking it up nonstop since. Now I get to share with all of you just how delish it is! If you are itchin’ to get out of town for a bit, make the drive up. (You can skip the hiking and get right down to business if you want!)
