eatPGH eats…COLUMBUS
Sarah and I had the opportunity, thanks to the fabulous Experience Columbus team and Weirick Communications, to travel to Columbus and eat our faces off for 4 days. We legit had zero expectations of the city as we made the drive from the ‘Burgh to Ohio’s capital city. Pittsburghers know a thing or two about Cincinnati and Cleveland and their inferior capabilities in sports, but Columbus is not on our radar.
Doing a quick Google search: “What is Columbus known for?”, we found that the city is known for domesticated tomatoes. Our expectations got lower than zero. Once we arrived after a seriously short and easy 3 hour commute, we put our stretchy pants on and got to eating and sight seeing.
And here’s the thing guys: Columbus is all kinds of awesome. We felt a kinship with the people, who are as friendly as ‘Burghers, and the cuisine, which is inspired by local freshness and is approachable for all palates. (Plus, the craft liquor and beer scene is pretty delightful as well).
Columbus is twice the size of Pittsburgh in terms of population and big on heart as well. Over our four day trip, we discovered a passionate and exciting food scene that deserves some attention. Get in your car now — you’ll be there in no time and fall in love with the city just as fast.
Here’s a sampling of some of Columbus’s delightful dining:
