North Market
Be prepared, I’m going to make a few bold, and risky statements in this post.
Similar to the Pittsburgh Public Market, CBus’s North Market is a mecca of friendly, independent farmers and merchants eagerly awaiting to not only sell you goods, but talk to you about what they have going on (and offer up some samples too!). There’s fresh produce, meat, poultry, fish, cheese, pasta, beer, wine, pretzels, waffles, and much, much more!
Some of the merchants you will find housed in the North Market are:
- Taste of Belgium, serving up sweet dense waffles (that were probably, by far, the best waffles I have ever had. Period).
- Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams
- North Market Spices, which simply started out as an idea over lunch at the North Market by Owner Ben Walters. Now he and his spicy employees are slinging paprika, cinnamon, and chipotle apply pie spice, and much more to customers who are looking to add a little flavor to their dishes. They are super friendly and are eager to share with you recipes on how to use their spices.
- Hubert’s Polish Kitchen. Now, we from Pittsburgh are familiar with a great-tasting pierogi, and I have to tell you the pierogi at Hubert’s is OUTSTANDING, and I have to say could quite possibly be a tad bit better than the pierogi in Pittsburgh. There, I said it! I’m going to have to do a PGH-CBus Pierogi taste test to actually verify that statement sometime soon. But trust, they were amazing. During our visit, Hubert was serving up pierogi stuffed with potato, cream cheese, and caramelized onions. HEAVENLY. I’m still thinking about these doughs of goodness. I wish they shipped. Sigh.
These are just some of our favorite spots in the North Market. Found out more about the 35 vendors at: http://www.northmarket.com/

I am a long time resident of Columbus, and lover of the North Market,I have been amazed at the change and varied offerings of types of food, that Columbus now offers, a little known fact,1 out of 10 people that live Columbus come from outside the United States,so now every type of food imaginable is now being offered here,African,Mexican,Polish,Korean, street food trucks of every description . We have been blessed , since outsiders are welcomed here,we have given the chance to know them and their food customs, I always love when fellow foodies come from other places and discover what Columbus has to offer. I would also like to say I have visited your food market in the strip district in Pitt, and enjoyed it ,and hope to make a return trip! From one fellow foodie, thank you for coming and writing about my home town. Come back and tell your friends Gloria Crane
