eatFtLauderdale (just doesn’t have the same ring)
Yes, yes… I know this is eatPGH but I was in Ft. Lauderdale for a week and since it has TWO Primanti’s, there’s a kinship.
Ft. Lauderdale was an anomaly to me. I tried so very hard to find good eats while I was there but failed miserable. I couldn’t even find a decent seafood restaurant. Luckily I didn’t have to walk far to enjoy the only food I throughly enjoyed during the whole trip. And surprise… it was a burger!
BurgerFi is a burger joint that has the ease of a fast food restaurant but the food and snazz of any gourmet burger establishment.

Walking in I became slightly skeptical because you ordered fast food restaurant style. I immediately got past that once I saw the menu and the fact that they had beer. Hey! I was on vacation!
Once you place you’re order, you can grab a table and wait until your buzzer goes off. The inside is decked out with elements from this industrial rage we’re experiencing in design: long wood lunch counters, stainless steel stools, huge sliding glass doors that open to the outside, and minimalist lighting. It also incorporates earth-friendly elements, like chairs that are made from recycled Coke bottles, tables made out of compressed recycled wood, and large fans that use 66% less electricity.
Now on to the important stuff: the menu (which includes more than burgers). It also has “hipster dogs,” “accessories,” and custard. The burgers are made with all-natural, grass-fed beef from certified humane-raised, vegetarian-fed cattle. It also has a veggie burger made with quinoa served on multi-grain bun and topped with white cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and secret sauce. Who knew you could even make a burger from quinoa? I’m sure glad they did because this was one of the best veggie burgers I’ve ever had. And that bun, I want to eat everything on that bun. It held up well to the ingredients and looked and tasted pretty darn good.
BurgerFi’s fries are also good. Not Kennywood Potato Patch good, but darn close. They are thick and crispy and good without any toppings. I’m skeptical that the ketchup was Heinz.
It also has a “Secret Menu” on the website for even more options to make your life a little more awesome.
BurgerFi is rapidly expanding but sadly not anywhere close by. You’ll have to drive to Mentor, Ohio if you’d like to get BurgerFi’ed. But it would totally be worth the drive if you did.
