Witch Flavor?
Let me just say that when it comes to ice cream… there are two things I love.
1. sprinkles
2. root beer floats
At Witch Flavor? in Beaver, I had both. At the same time.
The tiny shop is decked out in Wizard of Oz themed memorabilia and when I asked the friendly guy behind the counter “what’s with the witchyness?” he said that’s what happens after hours of brainstorming and a few bottles of wine. Fair enough.
I knew from the moment I saw the sign with the specials out front, that I’d be ordering the “Black Cow”. Vanilla ice cream with ribbons of root beer weaved throughout. A lickable root beer float! Who knew? What I didn’t know… was that Witch Flavor? bedazzles their cones. I’m not ashamed to say that I like the taste… (er… lack there of) of a plain ole’ Styrofoam cake cone. It doesn’t try to compete with my ice cream flavor. I dig that. When I glanced up at the caddy of colorfully dipped cones my eyes sparkled brighter than the land of Oz, the ruby slippers and Glinda put together. The best part was I got to choose witch (ha, like what I did there?) bedazzled cone I wanted! Gotta love the freedom of choice. After about 5 minutes, I finally picked out a beautifully bedazzled cone covered in multi-color sprinkles and after 2 perfectly rounded scoops of ice cream were placed on top… I went to town on it.
The ice cream comes from up north, the Creamery, to be exact. And boy is it ever creamy. I’m not going to go as far as to say I’ll never have a traditional root beer float again, but you can’t beat Black Cow on a bedazzled cone!
