Pickle Shots at Sonny’s Tavern
Yes, you read that right.
Pickle. Shots.
If you like:
-Pickles;
-Shots;
-All of the Above; or
-None of the Above,
then you should definitely try this shot at least once.
The traditional pickle shot consists of a shot of vodka, Ketel One in the above photo, and a separate shot of pickle juice. If vodka isn’t your cup of tea, Jameson is your next best option. However, I was advised by bar patrons that you can pick any liquor available to take with your pickle shot, though vodka and Jameson are the most popular.
So, if you head to Sonny’s in Bloomfield for your first pickle shot, let me offer some tips:
- Try not to cause a scene. If other bar patrons find out that you are having your first pickle shot, they will all look at you, cheer you on, and offer their own words of encouragement. With all eyes on you, you might get nervous and your pickle shot might end up on the bar instead of in your stomach.
- When the above is happening, stay calm and focus.
- Immediately, and I mean immediately, chase your liquor of choice with the pickle juice.
- Have another. Because you will want to after you’ve had your first.
If you find yourself in Bloomfield looking to grab a cocktail, try a pickle shot instead.
