Winghart’s Whiskey & Burgar Bar
Still on my quest to find a better burger than the Forest Hills burger at Burgh’ers, I’ve been busy eating burgers off menus around the city. Tough job, I know. While nothing may ever compare to the Forest Hills burger, The Shipwrecked at Winghart’s Whiskey & Burger Bar Downtown comes pretty darn close.
This burger is sinful: Brie cheese,
caramelized onions, bacon, arugula and white truffle aioli. My mouth is watering just typing this.WHITE TRUFFLE AIOLI people. Ok, ok. I’ll calm down.
The toppings are divine but it’s the beef that is out of this world good. Zach Winghart is a certified butcher. Period. They grind the meat used daily. Period. Quality will never be a question.
They also actually serve your burger how you ask. My “medium” actually came out medium unlike other places :::cough::: BRGR :::cough::: Tessaro’s :::cough:::
Besides the burger, the main allure of Winghart’s is the lunch-style counter service and the witty banter of Shipwreck himself. The guy is charming and passionate and so very interesting. I could have stayed and chatted with him all day.
And if burger’s aren’t your thing, try the pizza. While I’ve yet to personally try it, I’ve heard really great things. Wood fired pizza? I’d be all over you if it wasn’t for those pesky burgers.

I’ve eaten at Wingharts several times and is fantastic! I especially like the potato salad. And – for those who would rather avoid the beef – they offer an amazing falafel burger.
Both Wingharts and Burgh’ers are on my immediate “to do” list. How could I have missed both of these places? Now I just have to figure out where Harmony is. Hmmm. Thanks for the great post.
Great place, great characters, and they love when you go off menu and order the Hypocrite – the falafel burger with bacon. Bangarang.
