PNC Park: Pulled Pork/Pierogi Pretzel Sandwich
This past Saturday, I hit up my first Pirate game of the year. Besides peanuts and Cracker Jacks, I enjoy some of the other ballpark food. At this game, Friend of eatPGH had gotten one of the new PNC Park sandwiches– pulled pork piled high on a pretzel bun, topped with two pierogi. NOMS. I didn’t have a taste of it, but friend of eatPGH said the sandwich was heavenly. However, he suggested that the bun could have been a little bit softer…
Even though I didn’t taste this amazing concoction, I think the pierogi could have been handmade.. I know, I know. Mrs. T’s is a sponsor of the Pierogi Race.. I KNOW. But still… there are so many nice church ladies making homemade ones that this sandwich could use a few. Let’s show ballpark goers how Pittsburgh keeps the many ethnic traditions alive!!!

I will be eating one of these this season.
I am tempted to drive 7 hours from NY just to try that sandwich. I wish they made stuff like that for Yankee games. Go Pirates!!
I’ll let you know if the pierogi are homemade. My mom was one of those “pyrohi” maker church ladies. My family and I will be at the game when the Phillies come in. We can all spot an imposter pyrohi. One more thing…a pretzel roll? Really? Who eats pulled pork with pretzels? Wrong choice there.
do you mean you think it *should* have been homemade (implying that poor little church ladies would benefit from the pnc scrilla), or do you mean you believe it’s possible that it *was* homemade and not mrs. t’s? your use of the word “could” is ambiguous in this context.
The pierogi definitely was not homemade but probably of the Mrs. T’s variety. My suggestion is that the sandwich should be topped with homemade pierogi and not the store bought, as homemade pierogi are truly a part of Pittsburgh cuisine.
