Yo Rita
If I’m paying for an $8 taco I want some robust flavor. I want the kind of taco that is going to blow my mind with texture and interesting ingredient combinations.
It was a 50/50 toss-up when I went to Yo Rita last week. The special of the day was a salmon taco with poblano pepper cream cheese, cilantro and red peppers. It had the perfect amount of heat (for me) and the flavor was spot on. I was disappointed that I only got one taco and was left still hungry.
So I went in for round two.
I asked what a popular taco was and end up trying the Short Rib with roasted carrots, pickled celery, crispy onion, and chili infused jus. This was less than impressive. The short rib was cooked nicely but lacked any real flavor. I’m a proponent of letting the natural flavor of the meat be the boss but this needed something to bring that out. A little salt would have even helped. It was also on the dry side. Even with all those nice accompaniments, the flavor was bland at best.
Overall, I’m going to have to go back to form a better opinion because I really want to like this place.

How was your experience with the service there? I’ve been to Yo Rita many times and while I think the food is generally pretty good, the staff can get snippy and surly.
Give the food another chance because it can be very good there, but watch out for the sometimes cranky and rude staff.
Meh. I was unimpressed with Yo Rita. Service is mediocre, food’s overpriced. I like my tacos a little greasy and from an outdoor stand.
Fusion of aromas of a Mexican toilet and beans permeates the restaurant.
