Vanilla Pastry Studio
Move over Dozen, there might be a new cupcake sheriff in town.
After our appearance at the Waffle Shop last Sunday, we made our way down the street to Vanilla Pastry Studio.
Julie called dibs on the last chocolate peanut butter cupcake after about 5 seconds of walking in the front door.
Julie’s thoughts: I immediately called dibs on the chocolate peanut butter cupcake upon seeing it. Thinking about this little cake right now is making my mouth water actually. I love peanut butter but I feel like it;s hit or miss sometimes. Too sweet. Too fake. Too sticks to the roof of your mouth. I felt like Goldilocks taking that first bite because this icing was just right. And that chocolate cupcake. Oh my was that little cake moist. It was hard to resist sticking that whole thing in my mouth at once. I would have but I had to savor it because I got the last one!
I like my cupcakes a bit vanilla, so I went with the Berry Limeade cupcake. I am a usually hater of anything lime, but this cupcake was fairly tasty. The cupcake was dense, moist and flavorful, however the icing packed an extreme punch.
Next time you are around the East End and feel extreme sadcakes that Coco’s Cupcakes is closed, stop by Vanilla Pastry Studio.

Vanilla makes the best cupcakes in Pittsburgh! I was hoping to keep it my little secret! haha
I agree with Marzipanmom…Vanilla Pastry's cupcakes are far superior to Dozens. They also make incredible gobs, and their signature lollys are AMAZING.
love those cupcakes! the chocolate fudge is divine!
Lovely pictures!
What's impressive is how Vanilla Pastry Studio was not included in the BPGH Cupcake Poll but because of the write-in answers, they still beat CoCo's and came very close to Dozen (who has a rather large social-network of followers).
(PS – the reason they weren't originally included was because the cupcake war always seemed to be between CoCo's and Dozen.. Vanilla fans proved that they deserved to be listed in the poll after all)
