Las Velas

Since I’m the worst food blogger in the history of the world I ate my entire meal before I remembered to take a picture.

Sarah and I went for a pre-class dinner as Las Velas yesterday. She needed to destress and I need tacos. I’ll admit I wasn’t a fan when it first opened. We’ll chalk that up to a “getting their shit together” phase.

I’ve been on a fish taco kick so when I saw them on the menu and a family favorite, I was sold. They’re a pretty classic fish taco aka good. Lightly breaded tilapia, shredded cabbage, pico de gallo, and a creamy chipotle salsa. At first the creamy chipotle salsa felt like it should be on a big mac but as I dug deeper into that fish taco the flavors began blending deliciously. The portion was just right and I left a happy camper full of taco, beans and rice!
