Sweetlix Tart Frozen Yogurt

Right next to the Pittsburgh Popcorn Company downtown is the home of Sweetlix Tart Frozen Yogurt, one of the newest, and cutest, little shops to pop up on Liberty Avenue. It’s owned by the same people that produce the heavenly flavors of Pittsburgh Popcorn so good things are expected.

The interior of the shop is clean and modern. The no clutter atmosphere and essence makes you almost forget you’re there to get yogurt and not practice your downward dog. Once you get past the sheik design, you have two immediate choices to make: flavor of the day or original tart.

This is not TCBY. This is simple ingredients that pack an intense flavor punch. I went for the first time on Friday and had the special of the day, pomegranate. When they say tart they mean tart. I tested it out before committing and my taste buds were jarred awake by flavors. The first thing I noticed was that it tasted nothing like how I expected. It actually tasted like yogurt. It also didn’t taste too much like pomegranate. The tartness seemed to erase the subtle flavor the yogurt was trying to achieve. I might not have fully enjoyed this sweetlix but that doesn’t mean I’m not going back to give it another try.
