The Oyster House
Downtown — Lent’s over (almost) but who cares. You can still eat fish if you want too!
One Lenten Friday, I decided to walk to The Oyster House and check out their “famous fish sandwich.” Things started off pretty well with a delicious clam chowder. It’s not the best I’ve ever had and not the worst. A definite middle ground contender. The best I’ve ever had is at a placed called The Ugly Mug in Cape May, New Jersey. Snooki puff!
After warming up with a little chowder I had fish on a dish, breaded shrimp and fried oysters. The fish was your typical fish on a dish. Not soggy, not crispy, just your typical white fish. I’m not a huge oyster fan but I’m willing to try things to expand my palate. These fried oysters were not that good. Thankfully its hard to mess up fried shrimp. An IC Light probably would have made this all better.

The Oyster House used to be soooooo much better. The last time I was there was after the Superbowl Parade and it was AWFUL. It used to be a special treat when my Grandmother took us downtown. Fried oysters and buttermilk all around. Makes me sad.
I too had fond memories of visiting there with my grandma. too bad…
Foods not bad good oysters but the bartender with the long hair is one of the biggest dumb dicks I have ever saw behind a bar!!!! Get a table don’t eat at the bar !!!!
